The Optimist class international regatta, OptiOrange, has opened the registration period for its fourth edition and has announced its dates for 2021: from March 4 to 7 at the Real Club Náutico de Valencia.

The test, jointly organized by the Valencian club and the Saint Petersburg Yacht Club, brought together 345 sailors from 27 different countries in March 2020, being the last Optimist-class international event held before the outbreak of the health crisis.

Conceived around three principles: high-level competition, fun and ease of access, the regatta opened in 2018 with 60 participants. In 2019, registrations multiplied to 316 participants from 16 different countries, with some of the most prominent sailors on the international scene.

In March 2020, the OptiOrange celebrated its third edition with a new participation record: 345 competitors from 26 nationalities. The event had the support of Volvo Vedat Valencia, North Sails, Garmin, Turisme Comunitat Valenciana, València Turisme and Turismo Valencia, among others.

Looking ahead to the 2021 event, both the Real Club Náutico de Valencia and the Saint Petersburg Yacht Club will seek another great success of the call, provided that the health situation allows it and with all the necessary measures. For this, all the attractions of the event will be maintained, such as the reduced registration fee, competitive boat rental offer and, of course, unlimited orange juice.

Discount for early registration

As usual, those who register before February 1, will be able to benefit from a reduced rate of 90 euros per participant. Then the fee will increase to 150 euros until February 14, the date the registration period ends. In addition, the regatta offers a guarantee of full refund of the fee in the event that due to the health situation the regatta is canceled.

Limited participation

One of the novelties of this 2021 is that participation will be limited to 300 sailors, who will be able to enjoy a high-level competition in Valencian waters.

The organization takes into account the health situation, and has taken preventive measures such as canceling most social events, assigning different areas to teams to limit personal interactions, or holding popular online draws .
