Club History

The Real Club Nautico de Valencia was established in 1903 as a private sports association for the promotion of culture and activities that have the sea as a medium. After almost 80 years next to the port of Valencia, the need for more leisure space led us to move our facilities to its current location, next to the new mouth of the Turia River and only ten minutes from the city center.

In 1992 we expanded our facilities, from 75,000 m2 on land and 144,000 at sea to 100,000 on land and 250,657 m2 in the water. The number of moorings also increased from 1,011 to 1,206, thus becoming the yacht club with the largest area in the country.

Since 1998, the Club has collaborated with the Fundación DeportivaMunicipal del Ayuntamiento de Valencia in promoting sailing among Valencian children through training courses. A year later, we were designated Club of the Year and in January 2000 we were granted entry into the Royal Order of Sports Merit, in the silver plate category.

100 years of RCN Valencia

In 2003, when the Club was celebrating its centenary, the expansion of our facilities was planned and executed with the construction of two new buildings that can house more than 200 cloths, 30 shops and 8 offices, and in addition 120 new moorings and another 25 for large boats. The following year the new offices and social area were also completed.

In 2007 our infrastructures were updated again with the extension of the lift and the enablement of a regatta base with capacity for more than 400 light sailing boats, regatta office, fishing school, approved sailing school, changing rooms, showers, tents and everything you need to host any light sailing event.

That same year Valencia hosted the regattas of the 32nd edition of the America's Cup, during which various teams such as Prada, BMW-Oracle, Le Defi or Alinghi established their base in our facilities. In 2011, Real Club Nautico de Valencia announced its participation in a European challenge together with Italian union Green Comm Racing.

More than a hundred years of history contemplate us. Years of work, sport and much enthusiasm. Among all the members who have passed through our Club we have built something great, which we are very proud of, and we want to continue working to expand day by day, year by year our large nautical family.
